Heritage NGO, trilingual site
A glossary locked before the build, 32 activities migrated in three languages, and no Donate button until giving is confirmed.
Context
A heritage foundation whose website exists to show its track record to donors and museum visitors. The job: rebuild the public site in English, French and Arabic, with a content studio the client team can edit themselves.
Starting point
The old site, crawled in full: 147 unique pages across the three languages. Activities split between 8 "news" items and 24 "events". News, events, seminars, programmes and initiatives all described similar things, and the foundation's own name appeared in several forms.
Decision
Lock the language first. The glossary was written before the build, and every term has a line of words to avoid.
- A project is a multi-year undertaking with a visible outcome. An activity is a dated one-off: an exhibition, a seminar, a visit, an award.
- "Donate" stays off the site until the client confirms online giving. Until then, the support page only prepares an email in the visitor's own mail app.
Proof
The migration: 32 activities moved into the studio, 30 of them in all three languages and 2 in English and French.
Each round of client feedback is written as three lists: done, proposals, waiting on the client. One finding: photographs placed inside the text were never shown on the page, which is why some swaps "did not work". The cover photo became its own field.
The migration report is a full audit trail: 32 entries, a language map per entry, every dropped line. For the activities page, a taste profile built from 21 screenshots set 8 principles and 8 anti-patterns. 13 generations were scored against it, from 74 to 90, and three were discarded. That is a model's score, not the client's. The studio guide maps every part of the site to where it is edited, and a missing French or Arabic text falls back to English, so no page is blank.
Where AI was used
A model scored and critiqued each generation of the activities page against the taste profile. An AI-assisted re-staging of the book covers is planned, not done.
Time saved: not measured.
